Having security cameras at home helps to keep homeowners aware of what is happening inside the house. But for one dad in South Africa, he was in fits of laughter when he checked the camera footage and saw his wife lying on their baby’s bedroom floor.
One day in January 2017, Caryn and Tyrone Morris, of Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal Province, eastern South Africa, had some guests over for dinner. When it was time for Caryn to put their 15-month-old son, Brody, to bed, the little boy refused.
“We had guests at home for dinner and because he sensed people around he was moaning and wanted to get out the cot. Every time I walked out the room he would stand up and moan‚” Caryn told The South African.
Like every other parent, Caryn had to think of a way for her son to go to sleep.
“I decided to sit on the floor next to the cot so he could see me. He then just lay there with his eyes a little bit open,” she recalled. “I lay back and noticed he didn’t flinch or move or try and get out the cot.”
The baby seemed to have fallen asleep, and this gave Caryn the perfect opportunity to get away and continue the night with her guests.
But instead of getting up and walking out of the room, Caryn took an out-of-the-ordinary exit from Brody’s bedroom. Caryn slithered out of the bedroom!
“I slithered a little bit and he still remained on his side,” Caryn said. “Before I knew‚ I made it out the door and he hadn’t moved. I was too nervous to go back in the room to see if his eyes were open.”
Tyrone later shared Caryn’s mission impossible moves on his Facebook page with the caption: “The best thing about having cameras in your house is watching your wife trying to exit the room after putting your son down!! Sometimes you have to use your initiative for your exit!! PS The SA Army are calling me for you to do training on the reverse leopard crawl!!”
After the video went viral, many Facebook users commented that they had or would have done the same thing after putting their babies to bed.
One poster wrote, “Yes you should see me when he falls asleep on the couch, I have to wiggle off to the floor and run away.”
“I turn into a highly trained ninja and tuck n roll right out of there,” another user shared.
Caryn’s way of getting her son to sleep was hilarious, but it also showed how parents are willing to do anything just to keep their children asleep!
