Who knows when this stray dog in California last had a bath and a groom? He was in such a matted state when first discovered by rescuers, but fortunately he was sent for some much-needed grooming. He sports a whole new look now.
When rescuers from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue found an old poodle on the streets of Solano County, he was badly in need of a haircut and a bath. From the photos of the stray pooch named Beans, one can see that his fur was all matted, and he was in desperate need for some tender loving care.
The rescue group, which is located in San Francisco, took in the neglected dog and sent him to a grooming session with Cindy, a volunteer groomer.
Rescuers also discovered that Beans had even chewed some of his fur to the skin, just to get underneath those mats.
“Beans had chewed and scratched his rear end until it was raw,” the group wrote in a video uploaded to YouTube with the caption: Anybody there under all that hair?
The group believed that Beans had not been groomed for a long time, or might never have been groomed before. It was shocking to see that a chunk of his matted fur had “grown bigger than his paw.”
The matted fur almost “caked shut” his ears.
According to Animals Melt My Heart, Beans, believed to be 12 years old, seemed to relax once the groomer started freeing him of all the matted fur. He was then treated to a much-needed bath.
And the outcome?
A poodle that looks totally different! Even his spirits were lifted after the grooming.
“He immediately began running around Muttville like an excited puppy and was so grateful to have his filthy, long matted coat finally off his body!” the rescue group wrote on their website.
Described as “loyal, affectionate, and sweet,” Beans is currently up for adoption.
