At some point in our lives, we do yearn to unveil the “true meaning of life” and the very purpose of our existence—while some of us are lucky to get the right answers, others keep on experiencing that “inner struggle.”
The story of Bhavani Odatt from Kerala in southern India is one such example where her life changed for the better when she embraced Falun Dafa, an ancient self-improvement practice of mind and body based on the principles of Truthfulness–Compassion–Forbearance.
Bhavani learnt about Falun Dafa from her son Naveen in 2000 when she was in Abu Dhabi. Naveen came across the Falun Dafa website when he was surfing the net one day. He found it to be very good and started reading the books and learnt the exercises as well. When Naveen told his mother that the practice helps to strengthen the body and purify the mind, she was too busy and didn’t believe him.
In 2010, Bhavani returned to India and started facing a lot of familial and financial difficulties. She separated from her husband and was left feeling devastated.
Bhavani said: “Before starting this meditation, I was an emotional person and used to get sad very soon. We lived in Abu Dhabi for 21 years and we were a very well settled family, but some misunderstanding occurred and I and my husband separated. We then came back to India.
“I was too much worried when I left my youngest son who was just 10 years old at that time. I used to cry every day, thinking about my son.”
Faced with the heart-wrenching emotional struggle, Bhavani then decided to actually take her spiritual journey of Falun Dafa seriously in 2012. But to her surprise, she began experiencing various physical and mental benefits.
“As I practiced Tolerance more in my daily life, I realized even if I’m sad, it is not going to change the situation because everyone has his own destiny,” she said. “Even if I worry whole life it is of no use. All I can do is to forgive and find my inner peace.”
“Realizing this I started living by the three golden principles of Falun Dafa—Truthfulness, Kindness, Tolerance,” she said.
“I am sure everything will be fine soon, even if it seems hard now. But when we are on a good path, everything is bound to be good in the end.”
She is now able to handle difficult situations with a calm mind and feels more confident and courageous than ever before. More notably, she was suffering from a problem with her blood pressure and was on medication for years, but all that stopped when she started practicing Falun Dafa. She had also undergone three surgeries before but has now recovered from her ailments and is enjoying good health.
Now 59, she claims that she hardly feels tired after working the whole day and feels energetic even if she hardly sleeps a wink.
She says that Falun Dafa is an excellent cultivation practice—one that enables you to attain a healthy body and a peaceful mind. The profound teachings in its main book, Zhuan Falun, have revealed to her the truth of the universe—real meaning of life, how to live in harmony with others, the cause-and-effect relationship of various day-to-day events, and so on. Through persistent practice, she claims that a person’s mind, thoughts, character, and actions become righteous.
Bhavani is now working on the translation of the book Zhuan Falun into Malayalam, the official language of Kerala.
“The practice has truly blessed me. Now I am putting efforts to introduce this wonderful practice to the society at large. I wish all people can learn how amazing and peaceful this ancient meditation system is and try to become more Truthful, Kind and Tolerant,” she said.
Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is a self-improvement meditation system based on the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. It was introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in 1992 in China. It is currently practiced by over 100 million people in 114 countries. But this peaceful meditation system is being brutally persecuted in China since 1999. For more info, please visit: www.FalunDafa.org and www.FalunInfo.org.
